Choosing Your Wedding Decorations
Wedding ceremonies and receptions are usually pretty elegant and everything should match your wedding colors.
Hiring someone to professionally decorate can be costly, but doing it yourself will save you a ton of money and can be a lot of fun!
Many of the craft stores and online catalogs offer DIY options for wedding decorations that come in a great variety of themes and colors.
Pick up some kits or use them for creative ideas to make yourself!
If there’s a lot of assembly required, like bows for chairs or making your own confetti, invite your bridesmaids over for some wine and a movie while you all learn how to make them!
Usually, there are decorations on the cake table, the gift table, the head table at the reception, the ends of aisles at the wedding, the alter, and centerpieces and favors on each table at the reception, so choose what you want where.
It’s far cheaper to find things online that you can assemble before the wedding or make yourself at a budget-friendly price.
Instead of expecting the florist to have rose petals for the cake table, buy some pretty colored or metallic paper and a paper puncher in any shape and make confetti that matches your wedding colors perfectly for a lot less money than you would spend on fancy flower petals!
Online catalogs may offer custom stickers that you can create yourself using their template.
Select your favorite design and type in your names, buy some votive candle holders at the dollar store, and makes beautiful votives for each table that you can use to decorate your home with!
Add some photographs of you and your groom together to the gift table and toss around some more homemade confetti for a beautifully personalized touch.
You can buy DIY picture frames from a craft store to paint and decorate yourself or you can use pretty frames from the dollar store.
No one can tell they aren’t expensive custom picture frames, I promise.
Making your own floral arrangements at the alter can be as easy as buying a few potted daisies or other flower and placing them on each end of the alter table.
Then, you can take them home and keep them forever as a reminder of the best day of your lives!
Bouquets in small vases can be decoration enough for the head table at the reception and they’ll already match everything!
No one but the bridal party usually sees the top of the table, so I wouldn’t even bother with confetti here.
Decorating can be easy and there are a ton of resources and creative inspiration for the do-it-yourself bride!
All you need to do is look around for the best options and prices that fit your wedding.
Just remember, the easiest way to make your wedding perfect is to be decisive, but also be willing to compromise with your budget!
